Sore throat can happen due to many things like cold, throat infection and allergies of many kinds. Most of the times, we take simple over-the-counter medicines and use simple homemade remedies to clear the throat. Here is where mustard comes into action. All you need to do is mix 1 tablespoon of mustard seeds, juice from ½ a lemon, 1 tbsp of salt, 1 tbsp of honey in 1 ¼ cups of boiling water. Mix everything nicely and let it cool by itself for some time. Once the mixture is cold, take a small cup full of mixture and thoroughly gargle with it 2-3 times a day. Repeat every day until the throat clears up.
2 Great for hair
Mustard oil has been used for centuries in Indian and Chinese medicines as a way of stimulating hair growth and making hair strong. Apart from many vitamins and minerals, mustard oil also contains loads and loads of beta carotene, a compound that not only strengthens the hair follicles, but also gives it a good shine and look. It also contains iron, fatty acids and minerals like calcium and magnesium, which are excellent for promoting hair growth all over the head.
3 Gets rid of muscle pain and cramps
Mustard contains lots of magnesium and selenium; two ingredients that make it a worthy solution to muscle pains and cramps. These two ingredients provide mustard with anti-inflammatory and heat producing capabilities, which in turn helps loosen the muscles and provides heat in order to lessen the pain and provide relief. You can either apply fresh mustard paste to the affected area or make a bundle of mustard seeds and add it to the warm water in the bathing tub and take a long, soaking bath in the water to help relax any muscle ache and pain.
